Recovery Corps Quick Facts

Our Mission

The Louisiana Family Recovery Corps coordinates the humanitarian service delivery in the aftermath of disaster, natural and manmade. Founded in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, which struck the Gulf South United States within one month of each other in the summer of 2005, the Recovery Corps is officially tasked by the State of Louisiana to provide for the recovery of its citizens. Through fill-the-gap programs, coordination, research and critical communications, the Recovery Corps is driving human recovery.

Our Work

At work in nearly every parish of Louisiana, with policy makers across the country, and with critical programming offered to displaced residents living out-of-state, the Recovery Corps is delivering vital resources to individuals and families on the path to recovery from disaster. The Recovery Corps rebuilds homes, re-establishes households, develops recovery plans with families, funds local community-based and faith-based organizations to provide programs to their residents, provides programs that are strengthening communities and enriches the emotional well-being of people traumatized by disaster.

Our Impact

Since its inception, the Recovery Corps has renewed the lives of more than 30,000 individuals and families across Louisiana and the United States.
